Travis Murray

Travis Thomas Murray, 38, of Morgantown, entered into eternal glory on Saturday, Dec. 10. He fought a long, courageous battle with metastatic cancer, but is now free of pain and suffering and in the presence of His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Travis was born on July 23, 1984, in Morgantown, the son of David Thomas Murray and Ruth Ann (Cook) Murray.

In addition to his parents, Travis is survived by the love his life, his wife, Sasha (Hvizda) Murray; his brother, Steven Davis, of Martinsburg; his brother, Tim Davis, of Bruceton Mills; his sister, Mandi Murray, of Morgantown; and his sister, Candi (Ed Pillar), of Morgantown. Travis leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Travis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Glen William Sr. and Evelyn Lorraine (Zinn) Cook, of Star City; his paternal grandparents, Elmer and Ella (Hubbard) Murray, of Morgantown; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Travis was always known to be a strong man, physically and mentally, and for having a very kind and giving heart. Travis never met a stranger, and he had much knowledge, smiles, laughs and stories to share. He was highly respected and loved by everyone he met, and he was extremely talented; truly a jack-of-all-trades. Travis was an avid Hot Wheels collector, truck and car enthusiast, amazing car painter and restorer, gifted welder, hunter and fisherman.

Travis was without a doubt one of a kind in every way, and the world will not be the same without him. He will be dearly missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Pursuit’s Dream Foundation, 943 Blackberry Hill, Rowlesburg, WV 26425.

Hastings Funeral Home is entrusted with cremation arrangements. Friends and family will be received at Calvary Chapel Morgantown, 493 Tyrone Road, Morgantown, from noon until the time of the celebration of life at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, with Pastor Shawn Frasher officiating.
