He was born in Fort Campbell, Ky., on July 15, 1954, a son of the late Betty McLead Hicks and Ralph Hicks, of Maidsville.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his six children, Charles R.W. Hicks (Brittany), Ralph Wayne Hicks (Felecia), Brooke Hicks, Brian Hicks (Jean), Adam Hicks (Mandy) and Betty Menear (Bill); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Barbara Helmick, Jim Hicks (Cathy), Janet Lindsay (Melvin) and Bill Hicks (Tonya); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
