Eleanor Reckart

Eleanor Ruth Reckart, (“Nan” to all her grandchildren), 88, went to be with her lord and savior on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, surrounded by her loving husband, daughter and son.

Born Nov. 16, 1934, in Morgantown, to the late Denver “Fuzzy” and Madaline (Money) Cramer.
Eleanor loved to ride horses, bowl, sing, play the piano, play cards and especially loved playing dominos with her great-grandchildren.

Eleanor was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Cuzzart, where she was a Sunday school, Bible school and church youth group leader. She was a member of the Helping Hands quilting group, which was started by her mother-in-law, Minnie Reckart. Eleanor, along with three of her closest friends, were members of the “Heaven Bound Quartet” and “The Country Church Singers.” After raising her family, at the age of 53, Eleanor enrolled in the Morgantown Beauty College, where she obtained her cosmetology license and then opened “The Styling Brush” in Cuzzart.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, John C. Reckart; a daughter and her husband, Monta and Brad Lawson; a son and his wife, Joseph and Diane Reckart; five grandsons: Chad (Abby) Lawson, Jared (Emily) Lawson, Brody Lawson and companion Krista Drennon, Joey (Heather) Reckart and Derek (Kayla) Reckart; eight great-grandchildren: Gaaron and Adley Lawson, Jordan and Jase Reckart, Blake and Natalie Reckart and Julia and Josephine Lawson; two sisters: Liz Peaslee and Polly (Skip) Livengood; two brothers: Denver “Pill” Cramer and Charlie Cramer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jay Reckart, and her mother and father-in-law, Denton and Minnie Reckart.

Family and friends will be received at the Cuzzart Country Crosses Church in Cuzzart, from 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m. service on Sunday, Dec. 4, with the Rev. Mike Agerbright and Dwayne Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Centenary Cemetery.

Our family extends a truly heartfelt thank you to WV Caring, Tabitha Clark, DJ Pyles, Debbie Bishoff and staff for their tender loving care given to our family through the illness of our loved one.

Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, will be providing funeral services.
