Victim in fatal hit-and-run ID’ed, charges set against suspect

The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division has released the identity of the victim of a fatal hit and run on Grafton Road.

The investigators have also pinpointed a suspect.

According to a Wednesday press release from the department, “the victim has been positively identified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as 29-year-old Michael Mobley, who is also known as Kimmy Rose.”

Meanwhile, The Dominion Post reported Kimmy’s name on Nov. 7 after speaking with one of her friends.
Renee Gemma said then that Kimmy often walked that stretch of road to and from work.

The driver of the vehicle involved in this incident has been identified and will be charged with negligent homicide, Monongalia County Sheriff Perry Palmer told The Dominion Post Wednesday.

While charges have been set, no arrest of the suspected motorist had been made as of Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff said.

Palmer also wouldn’t disclose the suspect’s name or the particulars that led to the
identification.

Identification of the victim was withheld until an official report was available and next of kin could be notified, the department said.
