Adaland Mansion’s Christmas tree in the Bride’s Room has decorations fit for royalty this year. Visitors will see bulbs, large flowers and grape clusters, all sitting above a royal purple tree skirt. This tree is one of 15 decorated throughout the 23-room mansion.
This purple tree, plus all the others, will be on display during the holiday season.
Staff welcomes visitors from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday for the free, annual holiday open house.
Visitors are invited to meander throughout the three floors of the Victorian mansion on their own self-guided tours.
Santa’s Work Shop and Bake Shop will be open to purchase gift items and baked goods. Proceeds from the sales will go toward the upkeep of the 1870 home.
Two Christmas buffet dinners will be served, Dec. 11 and Dec. 18, each with seatings at 12:30 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. Traditional ham and roasted chicken with all the trimmings will fill the formal dining room table along with veteran cook Lucy Williamson’s famous desserts.

In the week between Christmas and New Year’s, guests may enjoy Adaland’s Christmas Candlelight Tours, offered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Dec. 28. Visitors carry a family-friendly candle throughout the darkened house to illuminate the 12 decorated rooms. Homemade refreshments accompany the tour and items from Santa’s Gift Shop may still be available for purchase. While no reservations are required for this event, a $15 adult and $10 child admission will be charged at the door.
The final event of the 2022 season is a New Year’s Eve Buffet Tea, set for 1 p.m. Dec. 31. This family-friendly event will feature a buffet table laden with dozens of tea-sized treats — from Adaland’s famous chicken salad sandwiches, to mini fruit tarts, to cookies and more. The afternoon tea will wrap up with fresh strawberries and champagne punch. Reservations are required for this limited-seating event and may be made by calling the previous phone numbers. For the buffet tea, adult tickets are $25 and children’s are $10.
