Leland John Murray, 86, of Morgantown, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2022, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Leland was born on Feb. 4, 1936, in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of the late Russel Murray and Alice Murray Nagy.
Leland started the Tri-State Marine Corp club in Weirton and continued his affiliation in Morgantown when he moved there. He enjoyed keeping in contact with his friends and family via Facebook while enjoying a glass of his favorite red wine.
Leland is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rose Murray; son, Jeff Murray and his wife Reshel; daughter, Lisa Johnson and her husband Jeff; grandchildren, Garrett Murray and his fiancé Allison Borher, Carter Murray, Heather Kleckner and her husband Derrick, Courtney Ransom and her husband Eric, Robert Eloi Jr. and Kristen Ann Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas Kleckner, Aviana Kleckner, Brooklyn Kleckner, Rylan Kleckner, Carson Ransom and Eli Ransom.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Ernie Nagy, and in-laws, Nancy and Augustine Marino.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV 26505, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon on Thursday, Dec. 1 with Pastor Rick Shriver officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove cemetery.
