Elvie Savella Moats Host, 83, of Morgantown, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family. Elvie was born Aug. 28, 1939, in Erwin (Preston County), a daughter of the late Jessie Katherine and Elmer Baker.
Elvie was a member of the former Riverside Apostolic Church and the current River Church. She loved helping at the church, working on their bake and Easter egg sales. Elvie was also quite artistic and enjoyed traveling to yard sales and antiquing.
Elvie is survived by her sons, Robert Host (Roberta), James Host, Phillip Host and Lawrence Host (Heather), all of Morgantown; daughters, June Craft, of Morgantown, Shirley Moore (Eugene), of Point Marion, Pa., Joann Cunningham, of Cross Lanes, Glenna Riffon, of Morgantown, and Carla Halderson (Jon), of Corinth, Texas; grandchildren, Jason and Kristopher Dawson, Toni Dalton, Kenny Host, Michael and Adam Cunningham, Wayne Adams, Jamie Reese, Jessie and Alexandra Halderson, Jonathan Halderson, Crystal Host, Anthony Host, Rachel Spiker, Phillip Host, William Host, Ethan Host and Halie Host; and 29 great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Elvie was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence R. Host in 2018.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday. Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Cemetery.
