Johnson Edmunds

Johnson “Ed” Waldo Edmunds, 78, of Tunnelton, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Ed was born on Oct. 7, 1943, in Whiteville, N.C., son of the late Robert Johnson and Laura Louise (Thompson) Edmunds.

Ed married Helen Hershman on Nov. 13, 1965. Johnson graduated from Orrum High School, Class of 1961. He retried as a master sergeant in the United States Air Force with 22 and a half years of service and did two tours during the Vietnam War. He worked at the Chevrolet garage in Kingwood for eight and a half years and the Division of Corrections for the State of WV for 13 and a half years.

Ed was a member of the Kingwood Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Ruritan in Fellowsville, Rowlesburg #VFW 3008, Canyon Hill, Blue Lodge #353, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Scottish Rite, Newport News, Va. and Khedive Temple, Newport News, Va.

Ed is survived by his wife of 57 years, children, grandchildren, family and friends. In addition to his parents, Johnson was preceded in death by one brother, Luther Robert Edmunds.

Graveside service will be at the West Virginia National Cemetery, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, with military honors being accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
