Majanlyn McClurg

Majanlyn Flora McClurg, 29, of Morgantown, walked into the loving arms of her Nana in heaven on Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, after a long ferocious fight with epilepsy.

Maej was born on Nov. 24, 1992 in Morgantown, to Joseph McClurg and Pamela Smallwood Covert. She graduated from MHS and went on to become a pharmacy tech, most recently employed with Omnicare. She loved her job and the people she met because of it. She was the life of every party but also wasn’t afraid to stand up for what she believed in. She loved and protected her family and friends fiercely and was loved immeasurably by them all.

Those left shattered and broken-hearted by her absence include her parents, Pam and Brian Covert, who raised her from the age of 5 as his own, and Joe McClurg; grandfathers, Roy Smallwood, who was there for anything she needed in her short life, David Chisler and Sandra Lear, whom she fondly called Grammy and Pappy and who loved her from the very first day they met and Richard McClurg; siblings, Myrriah McClurg (Dustin Hartley), Olivea Covert, Joey, Lacy, Jake and Katie; her very special niece and light of her life, Rorilyn; her niece and nephew, Bayleigh and Harley; special cousins, Trey Smallwood (Kristen) and daughter Lilly and Rennick Smallwood (Grace), who were more like brothers, Heather Lipscomb, Holly Pride, Billie Jo Rowan, Kelly Miller and Samantha McClurg; and several other cousins.

Her uncles, Roy “Uncle Rock” Smallwood (Alice Roscoe) who did more for her than seemed humanly possible, James Covert (Darla), Bob McClurg (Carren), Rick McClurg (Terri), Rusty McClurg (Tina), and others; aunts, Kelley Smallwood “Ksmalls,” who was only a phone call away, and Debbie Junkins; her canine girls, Kilo and Luna, who were her constant support; and special family friends, Chris, Kristy, Lane and Brandi DeBerry, who were always there when she needed them.

She was dearly loved and will be missed tremendously by countless friends, including Morgan Hunt, Kristen Nuce, Deanna Devlin and Sydni Broadwater.

She was preceded in death by her nana, Carol Smallwood and dear friend Chris Guidi, both of whom she mourned until her passing. Also, her “GG” Freda Covert, uncle Robert Covert, Joe’s mom, Janet McClurg and many other beloved family members.

My heart and world are shattered. I am so proud of you. You fought this disease like a warrior. I will love you forever and beyond my sweet girl. Love Mommy.

Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, from 1 p.m. until the 4 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, Oct. 1. Cremation services will follow.
