Trinity rushes for over 300 yards, dominates front lines in 50-12 win over Millersport (Ohio)

MORGANTOWN — Trinity senior running back Levi Teets carried the ball for 205 yards on 16 touches and two touchdowns en route to a one-sided contest in Sabraton on Friday night.

The Warriors (2-1) got back to their winning ways after a loss last week by defeating Millersport (Ohio) 50-12.

TCS got it started early by scoring on its opening drive, and it only took three plays.

Teets ran the ball three consecutive plays for 62 yards, with the scoring run of 11 yards opening the flood gates. He added his second touchdown of the night in the first quarter on the next drive. This time, Teets took the ball up the middle before cutting upfield and scampering 32 yards for six.

Sophomore Josh Jorge added 83 yards on the ground himself, scoring his lone touchdown in the second quarter from 15 yards out.

Freshman Parker Hopkins entered the game at quarterback after Kyle Knight went off with a knee injury. Hopkins connected on a 21-yard touchdown pass to Marcos Kniska in the third.

Knight did not return to the game.

Unfortunately for Millersport, penalties and simply being out-sized plagued them in this game. TCS controlled the line of scrimmage and made it easy for its runners to find the open space, something Teets praised his guys for after the game.

“I thought we played really well as a team this week,” he said. “We were able to bounce back after the tough loss last week and get a nice win at home. I have to give all the credit to the line and receivers for giving me great blocks all night. I’m just glad we were able to come out with the win.”

MHS found some offensive success in the third quarter, scoring two touchdowns, both by quarterback Tony Smith.

But a strong first half proved too much for the Lakers to overcome the deficit.

“I thought we rebounded really well, we spent a lot of time on defense this week and corrected a lot of things. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made,” Trinity head coach Chris Simpson said. “We played a good opponent from Ohio tonight who has some good athletes. With our injuries, I’m glad we have guys that can step up and play different positions. It always helps us to start fast and if we get hot we can be hard to stop.”

The Warriors will host Hancock (Md.) at 7 p.m. next Friday.
