Rotarians see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change-across the globe, in communities, and above all in themselves.

Rotary was started in 1905 by a lawyer named Paul Harris and three friends. Meeting in a small office in downtown Chicago, they named their new club Rotary to describe the practice of meeting in rotation at the members’ various places of business. Together, with every humanitarian project, they worked to change the world for the better.

In 1985, Rotary launched its Polio Plus program, the first initiative to tackle global polio eradication through the mass vaccination of children. Today, Polio is on the brink of eradication on the planet.

During his tenure, Raju is committing to two community projects and two global projects in collaboration with the Rotary District, Rotary International and the Eye Foundation of America. As a trained physician and ophthalmologist, he wants to focus on hunger and nutrition in Monongalia County as community projects.

Currently, the club works to provide several community projects, including scholarships, Empty Bowls and literacy programs. Visit https://rotaryclubofmorgantownwv.com/projects/ to see the full list.

As global projects, the club is focusing on a world without childhood blindness through ophthalmologic advancements and basic eye exams. Learn more about eye care projects at https://eyefoundationfoamer
