Janet Fominko Shade, 69, of Granville, died Saturday Aug. 6, 2022, at home with her family in Morgantown.
She was born March 2, 1953, a daughter of the late Tony J. Fominko Jr. and Vena G. Fominko, of Granville.
Janet was employed at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital’s cafeteria when she retired. She graduated from WVU with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and had been employed as a substitute teacher for Monongalia County Public Schools and as a teacher for WVU Hospital’s Child Development Center.
She is survived by her two daughters, Aimee E. Fominko and Angela D. Leedy, both of Morgantown; five grandchildren, Louis X. Valentine, D. Deion Neal, Nysha T. Neal, Ashlyn V. Leedy and Landry C. Leedy; and one great-grandchild, Lebron X. Valentine, all of Morgantown; her brother, Tony J. Fominko III, of Morgantown; and two sisters, Irene L. Fominko and Linda B. Fominko, of Granville.
Friends may join the family to honor Janet’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown, from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19.
