Russell E. Murray, 61, of Point Marion, Pa., died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, at his home, following a lengthy illness, with his loving family at his side. Born July 26, 1961, in Morgantown, he was a son of the late Russell J. Murray and Juanita “Sis” (Hart) Murray Haught.
Russell served for eight years with the West Virginia National Guard and had formerly worked as an assistant manager at Walmart and Petco. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his garage, going to yard sales, spending time with his family and especially loved playing Santa Claus for his family, friends and the Petco community.
Surviving is his loving wife of 36 years, Sandy (Leitter) Murray; four children, Jeffery Marsh, Jennifer Bell, James Murray and Justin Murray and wife Jamie; 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; a son-in-law, David Bell; one sister, Brenda Gray (Buck); and four brothers, Bernie Murray, David Murray, Junie Ault (Ginger) and Michael Ault (Jenny). Also surviving are his father-in-law, Ronald Leitter and wife Bonnie; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; his extended family and friends, Jim and Cindy Marshall, Shannon Leitter, Mary and Junior, Tyler, Katie and Carolyn Murray; other brothers- and sisters-in-law; and his many devoted furry companions.
Deceased is his mother-in-law, Ruthann Baker.
Friends are invited to join his family for a celebration of life at the Country Roads Jamboree, 311 Mountain View Road, Morgantown, at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12. Arrangements are in the care of the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to his family at 501 Morgantown St., Point Marion, PA 15474.
