Family confirms Morgantown husband, father reported missing found dead Tuesday

John “Scott” Strader, a Morgantown husband and father reported missing by his family over the weekend, was found dead on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Strader family.

Strader’s family released a statement to The Dominion Post Wednesday evening.

“It is with a broken heart that we announce that our wonderful husband, and amazing Daddy to our eight children, John “Scott” Strader, was found deceased on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. Thank you to everyone who shared, helped in his search and has reached out to the family. We ask for your privacy during this time as we begin to grieve our loss. All questions regarding arrangements, donations, etc. are being directed to our friends at Smith Funeral and Cremation Care in Westover.”

According to information shared by the family on social media during the search, Strader was last seen around 4 p.m. Saturday and the last communication he had with the family was a text message to his wife, Teresa, later that evening around 9:44 p.m.  He was reported missing Monday to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials at the sheriff’s department were unavailable Wednesday for comment on any details regarding their investigation into Strader’s death.
