How to lend a hand to artists

Being a working artist poses several obstacles to maintaining a living, which our Morgantown creative community navigates daily. The contributions artists make to the Morgantown community are substantial.

Whether you want to attend more art events or stay updated on creative initiatives, every bit of support helps working artists. A helping hand can be lent to the creative community through financial donations, sponsorships, participation, commissions and volunteering with local art organizations.

Donations

Morgantown organizations that accept online donations include:

  • Arts Council of Greater Morgantown at artsgm.org
  • Morgantown Art Party at Morgantownartparty.com
  • Morgantown Art Association at Morgantownartassociation.com
  • Monongalia Art Center at Monartscenter.com

Participation

One of the best ways you can help artists with art events and creative initiatives is to attend events and performances.

The Greater Morgantown Area hosts several creative events, ranging from live music to craft vendors.

The monthly Arts Walk in downtown Morgantown is a popular artist gathering hosted by MainStreet Morgantown.

If shopping isn’t your preferred weekend activity, locations like Morgantown Art Party and 123 Pleasant Street offer live music that gives our creative community public exposure.
