Mon employees to show off their skills at first Mon Health’s Got Talent

Medical skills are not the only talents Mon Health employees have.  This Saturday, starting at 11 a.m., they will be singing and dancing, telling jokes, playing instruments and more at the first-ever Mon Health’s Got Talent show.

Mon Health will host the event at the Ruby Amphitheater at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park in Morgantown.

The idea came as a way to celebrate National Nurses Week and Hospital Week, said Luella Gunter, executive director of philanthropy.  She said Mon Health wanted to do an event in the broader community, but also something for the community of hospital employees.

All proceeds from the talent show will go toward the Colleague Support Fund at Mon Health, which helps Mon Health employees in times of urgent need or crisis.

The family-friendly event will feature several employees showcasing their talents along with additional entertainment, food trucks and fun.

After the talent portion, Gunter said there will be a special feature with three Nashville songwriters — Erik Dylan, Brett Taylor and Brad Clawson — whose combined writing credits include songs recorded by country music stars such as Kip Moore, Justin Moore, Eli Young Band, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, and Morgan Wallen.

The songwriters will talk about their experiences and what it’s like working with such big names in music.

Gunter said those interested in meeting the songwriters can purchase a $100 VIP ticket that will include a meet-and-greet at 10 a.m., before the talent show begins.

The Mon Health Medical Center Foundation has distributed over $40,000 to aid employees across Mon Health through the Colleague Support Fund since 2020, Gunter said.

The fund aids employees who are struggling financially by helping them acquire adequate housing, pay bills, fix vehicles, or anything with which they need immediate assistance.

With the proceeds gained from the talent show, they are hoping to help more employees.

“During all of this [COVID], these people have worked so hard,” Gunter said.  “No one had any fun, and what a great way to get out and try to celebrate everything that they’ve done over the last two years.”

General tickets for the event are $20 for adults, $10 for children 13 to 17, and free for children 12 and under. Tickets will be required for entry to the show.  Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.monhealth.com/main/mon-health-s-got-talent.  Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
