HealthWorks to offer new nationwide rehab program for cancer patients

A new rehabilitation program at HealthWorks Rehabilitation and Fitness will offer customized therapy services for those struggling with the effects of cancer and its treatments.

HealthWorks will be partnering with ReVital, a nationwide cancer rehabilitation program that serves patients in over 300 locations across 15 states. The program uses trained clinicians certified with the program that include occupational, lymphedema and physical therapists.

“We have trained clinicians who are available to deliver high-quality treatment programs to patients who are suffering from cancer,” said Jennifer Holbin, certified occupational and lymphedema therapist at HealthWorks, on Maple Drive.  “We currently have certified therapists at our Morgantown and Smithfield (Pa.) HealthWorks locations.”

Holbin said they are expanding the program to their other clinics and the hope is to have ReVital certified clinicians in all of the HealthWorks clinics.

ReVital bases treatment on the individual needs of the patients since cancer can affect each person differently.

“It is very patient-specific, so anything that the patient is having difficulty with, we certainly can help with that,” Holbin said.

According to Holbin, clinicians will be able to treat and help with a variety of common issues cancer patients face, including pain, fatigue, lymphedema, cognition and memory, balance and gait, or even working on activities of daily living.

“Our goal is to make sure that therapy services and rehabilitation is integrated into every cancer patient’s journey,” Holbin said. “Just to make it a standard of care for patients who are affected by cancer.”

The ReVital program started Friday at the HealthWorks location at 943 Maple Drive in Morgantown, and at 100 Ridge View Drive in Smithfield, Pa.

If you are interested in the program or would like additional information, Holbin said to contact the Morgantown location at 304-599-2515.  Patients can also speak with their physician about making a referral to HealthWorks for the ReVital program.

HealthWorks is part of a joint venture with Mon Health; however, Holbin said that doesn’t mean they can’t bring in patients from anywhere.

“We are ready and waiting,” she said.
