James Everett Laraway, 88, of Reedsville, died Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Mon Health Medical Center with family by his side.
He was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Albright, a son of the late John L. and Olive Sypolt Laraway.
James was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church, a retired assistant operator for Chemetals Inc., a conductor for the West Virginia Northern Railroad, a member of the Albright Volunteer Fire Department and, in high school, was named captain of the All-State football team his freshman year.
He is survived by a son, John Laraway and wife Gina, of Reedsville; a daughter, Leslie Laraway, of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, Craig, Caulin, Jairus, Hayley, Austin and Lexie; and two great-grandchildren, Corey and Cobin.
He was also preceded in death by his companion, Matha Stull.
Friends may call at Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., the funeral hour, on Monday, March 21, with Pastor Joe Lamm officiating. Interment will follow in the Sand Spring Cemetery, Friendsville, Md.
