Sandra Teets

Sandra L. Teets, of The Villages, Fla., and formerly of Terra Alta, was warmly welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 23, 2022, after an 11 year battle with cancer Sandy was born in Beckley, the daughter of Arno and Helen Lemon. She was educated in the public schools of Raleigh County, graduating from Trap Hill High School in 1965, after which she attended West Virginia University.

Sandy married James Teets, of Terra Alta, on Nov. 26, 1983, and immediately became mother to a blended family of six children, all of whom survive her: Kathy Clay Reilly (Craig), of Manassas, Va., Kevin W. Clay, of Kernersville, N.C., James F. Teets (Lianni), of San Francisco, C.J. Teets (Meredith), of Hagerstown, Md., Rebecca Teets Holt, of Manassas, Va., and Sara Teets Cotto (Juan), of Seattle.

Sandy was not only a mother, but also worked side by side with her husband in the various family businesses. While doing so, she and her friend,, Brenda Teets, established Traditions, a gift and Christmas shop inside of the family hardware store. She loved working behind the scenes, managing inventory, creating displays and decorating the many Christmas trees, most with their own theme. Sandy ended her working career as the administrator of the Worker’s Compensation Appeal Board for Governor Cecil Underwood.

After retirement, she, along with her husband, purchased a home in The Villages, Fla., and became “snow birds” for 10 years before moving there permanently in 2017. As a Villager, Sandy loved golfing with her friends as well as playing mahjongg and samba. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Leesburg, Fla. while also maintaining her affiliation with Grace Chapel Reformed Baptist Church in Kingwood.

Sandy is survived by her husband, children, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling, Larry E. Lemon and a grandchild, Salvador Cotto.
The family wants to express their heartfelt thanks to the Villages Cornerstone Hospice Team and The Villages Hospice House for the excellent care and concern they gave Sandy during the final days of her life.

Baldwin Brothers Cremation Society has been entrusted with final arrangements and a memorial service will be held at a future time to be announced.
