Junior Leroy Moats, 94, passed away Sunday Feb. 27, 2022, at WV Caring in Elkins.
He was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Morgantown, a son of the late Lee Roy and Ada Kisner Moats.
He was a loving father and provider, grandfather and brother. He was a machine operator for Sander Sawmill. He loved gardening and reading.
He is survived his son, Robert Moats, of Rowlesburg; three daughters, Vonda Barto, of Hartselle Ala., Irene Simons, of Tunnelton, and Lucy Moats of Rowlesburg; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Geraldine Moats; and several half brothers.
He was also proceeded in death by his loving wife, Edith G. Moats, in 1999; a daughter, Darlene Moats; and a brother, Adrian Moats.
Family will receive friends at Burke Funeral Home in Rowlesburg, from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, where services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday March 4, with Pastor Charles Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery. A military graveside rites will be conducted by the Preston County Honor Guard and the WVANG Military Funeral Honors.
