MORGANTOWN – Here is a look at some of the bills introduced Monday, Feb. 21. Local sponsors and cosponsors, if any, are noted.

SB 687, to establish procedures for potential consolidation of school districts by meetings among county boards of education.

SB 700, to remove the code provision that provided that all counties were ineligible for the public assistance federal waivers for able bodied adults without dependents that allows SNAP benefits without work requirements to receive the benefits. Sen. Charles Clements, R-Wetzel, sponsor.

SB 704, to require each classroom teacher to comply with the request of any parent, grandparent, or guardian to inspect instructional materials and books in the classroom that are available for students to read. Sens. Randy Smith, R-Tucker, Dave Sypolt, R-Preston, co-sponsors.

Sb 710, to require any hospital licensed in this state to reimburse the state when the hospital has required employees to take leave for refusing to take COVID-19 immunization and the West Virginia National Guard members are used for labor replacement. Sypolt, co-sponsor.

HCR 86, to support admitting Washington, D.C. into the Union as a state and to urge Congress to enact legislation granting statehood. Delegates Danielle Walker, D-Monongalia, Joey Garcia, D-Marion, co-sponsors.
