Jacqueline’s raises funds for United Way of Mon, Preston

Thanks to a recent promotion, the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties received a check from Jacqueline’s Fine Jewelry for $2,630 to go toward the nonprofit’s 2022 Campaign.

United Way’s Director of Development Macall Speaker and 2022 Campaign Chair Tammie Alexander, a member at Steptoe & Johnson, visited the store Monday morning, where owner Tom Licciardi presented them with the check.

United Way received 10% of the sales from each piece of jewelry from Jacqueline’s designated United Way Collection that was purchased before the end of the past year.

The United Way Collection was made up of pieces featured during the Blue Jeans and Bling Bartending Battle in November. Licciardi gave the competing bartender teams special pieces to borrow for the bartending challenge.

Blue Jeans and Bling featured four teams of women, two behind the bar at a time, who tried to earn the most tips, all of which went toward the United Way Campaign. The teams consisted of Lauren Ritchie and Michelle Oates Duda; Jane Haines and Monica Haddad; Tara Hulsey and Derica Petroplus; and Caitlyn Alexander and Vicki Shuman. Ritchie and Duda walked away as the top earners of the night.

The evening raised more than $20,000 for the United Way, and Licciardi thought the competition was so successful that he wanted to extend the fundraising aspect with the promotion of the United Way Collection at the store.

“Working with Tom and Jacqueline’s is a win-win for our community,” Speaker said. “We’re so happy that we have businesses in town that support the United Way. That, in turn, makes our community a better place to live and work.”

Licciardi said he’s excited to continue the partnership with United Way and wants to work with the agency on other projects in the community. Jacqueline’s Fine Jewelry is at 1070 Suncrest Towne Centre Drive, Morgantown.
