Senior Mons hosts COVID vaccine, booster clinic today

COVID- 19 is not going away any time soon. Medical professionals are stressing the importance of continuing to protect yourself and your loved ones. One way to do this is to get your vaccines and booster shot. West Virginia Governor Jim Justice has announced a program to make this easier for seniors around West Virginia.

From now until the end of the year, senior centers will offer booster clinics. Those 50 or older who received a booster shot from Dec. 7-31 will receive a $50 prepaid VISA card.

Senior Monongalians understands the importance of having the COVID-19 vaccine and subsequent boosters. Today, a vaccine and booster clinic will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Senior Monongalians, at 5000 Green Bag Road, Mountaineer Mall, under a red awning. During this clinic, seniors can receive the COVID-19 vaccine (first or second dose), the vaccine booster, and/or the flu shot. Appointments are not required. This clinic is being held by the Monongalia County Health Department.

Justice announced a “Do it for Babydog, Senior Center Edition” Dec. 7. Four senior centers, across the state, with the highest overall vaccination rates will also win a $100,000 grand prize through the vaccination sweepstakes and receive a visit from the governor and Babydog.

Requirements

  • Must be 50+ years of age
  • Must have received a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine after Dec. 7, 2021.

Incentives

  • $50 prepaid VISA gift card (State -Process: All applications will be reviewed and verified. You only need to submit once. Duplicate applications will be rejected. Those unable to register by themselves can stop by Senior Mons, where someone will help you register. An appointment is recommended, but not required.
