‘Trees to Go’ raises money for Mon Health

MORGANTOWN — One again, holiday enthusiasts and supporters of Mon Health alike can vie for the opportunity to take home a fully decorated, custom tree.

Raffle tickets are available for the Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary’s annual “Trees to Go” fundraiser.

Each year, the auxiliary sells chances to win one of 10 pre-adorned, artificial trees on display at the medical center.

“They are right in the front lobby,” said Kathy Pompili, lifetime member chair of the auxiliary and Trees to Go chair.  “Everybody coming through the door, even employees, all say it’s such a joy walking through the door and seeing the beautiful trees.”

The cost of each tree has been sponsored by a different local business and decorated by volunteers from the area.

“We are just so thankful to the community that they step up and help support this,” said Pompili. “Without their support we couldn’t do this.”

The auxiliary’s overall goal is to raise money for the hospital to enhance patient care and provide improvements for the patients, families and staff of Mon Health Medical Center.

This year, they will donate the money raised toward a new geriatric emergency room currently in the works. According to Pompili,  the rooms will be set up with bars on the wall to keep from falling and various other amenities that would help seniors admitted to the emergency room.

Last year, profits from the fundraiser were not as high as previous years due to COVID, Pompili said. So this year the auxiliary will also sell tickets online, in addition to the in gift shop at the medical center and at the front desk on weekends.

Winners will be drawn at noon Nov. 19 and tickets can be purchased up until the time of the drawing. The cost is $1 each or six for $5.
