Carve those jack-o-lanterns and hang those spiderwebs, it’s almost Halloween in Mountaineer Country. Whether you’re planning a last-minute costume or have been preparing all year, Mountaineer Country has a variety of family-friendly, fun events to put you in the Halloween spirit.

Mark Your Calendars for these Halloween Happenings:

  • Halloween Party at Mountain Man Axe Throwing — 5-9 p.m. Friday-Sunday  — Grab your best costume and head to Mountain Man Axe Throwing. The winner of the costume contest will receive an axe-throwing party for eight people. There will be blacklight targets and drink specials all weekend. Special treats from Rolling Hills Rolled Ice Cream and The Ugly Little Cupcake will also be available. Times are limited. Call 681-209-7501 or text 681-209-7161 to make a reservation.
  • Adult Witches and Warlock’s Tea-vent at The Tea Shoppe — 7-9 p.m. Friday —  Gather your “Ghoulfriends” and favorite warlock and ride your broomsticks to The Tea Shoppe for a Halloween-themed evening tea service. The Halloween tea service includes one complimentary “menacing” mimosa. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. Join the fun and enter in the best-dressed or cackling contests. Reservations are required and are $30 per person. Additional beverages will be available for purchase. Visit TheTeaShoppeWV.com to reserve your spot.
  • Kids Kanvas: Haunted House at the WOW! Factory —  11 a.m. Saturday — Join the WOW! Factory for a spooky morning of creativity in one of their Kids Kanvas classes. For ages 5-12, this class allows kids to channel their creativity on an 11-by-14-inch canvas using artist-quality acrylics. This week, kids will get in the Halloween spirit by painting a haunted house. The paint is not washable, so wear old clothes. Online registration is open until 9 a.m. the day of the event. After 10 a.m.,  call the studio at 304-599-2969 to register.
  • Fall Fortunes at the WOW! Factory — 5-8 p.m. Saturday — Join The WOW! Factory and Three Feathers Tarot for a night of Fall Fun and Fortunes. Stop in between  5 and 8 p.m. and enjoy 15% off fall pottery and a complimentary 10-minute tarot reading with Three Feathers Tarot. Seating is limited, and tarot readings are first-come first-serve. This is a walk-in event, so be sure to get here early.
  • Downtown Morgantown Haunted Walk — 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 — Morgantown is known for having some haunted tales that date back to pre-WVU days. Discover Morgantown’s dark side with the infamous haunted stories by joining us for our Downtown Morgantown’s first Haunted Walk. Tickets are $25, and you may select your preferred tour time for that evening. For more information, contact Main Street Morgantown.
