Wallace Edward Dittman, 72, of Pentress, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021, in the Mon Health Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 17, 1948, in Mercer, Pa., a son of the late Charles L. Dittman and Betty Lou Anderson Dittman.
Mr. Dittman was a retired coal miner and retired from the Blacksville #2 mine, where he worked as a wireman. He was president of UMWA Local #1702 and also was a union organizer.

He was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the 101st Airborne. He was a member of the VFW Post #4793 in Waynesburg, Pa.

Surviving is his wife, Diana Shrout Dittman; two sons and their spouses, Scott Dittman and his wife Misty, of Marienville, Pa., and Randy Dittman and his wife Jessica, from Pentress; one daughter, Rebecca Dittman, of Newport News, Va.; one brother, Terry Dittman and his wife Lois, of Core; two sisters and their husbands, Roberta Tennant and Larry, of Core, and Charlene Holbert and Dave, of Mount Morris, Pa.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild which is due in January.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Todd Dittman, and one brother, Ricky Dittman.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, from 5-8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, with Pastor Steve Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
