W.Va. businesses thank military, veterans with free services

MORGANTOWN — What would it be like to miss your child’s first birthday, their first steps or their high school graduation?

What if you could not talk with your spouse or family for weeks at a time?

What if you didn’t know if a family member was safe?

For most of us, these situations are rare. For those in the military and their family members, they are part of their daily lives.

“Our men and women of our Armed Forces make great personal sacrifices in order to secure and protect our freedoms,” said Wendy Boyce, Freedom Day USA national director and West Virginia state director. “Freedom Day USA was founded by Dr. Robert Martino in West Virginia, and has since expanded to become a national thank-you event. Our business participants are joining together to say ‘thank you’ for the sacrifices of our military and veterans and to show our appreciation for our freedom.”

On Thursday, businesses across the United States and in West Virginia will participate in Freedom Day USA. Each business participant is providing a thank-you gift, in the form of free services, goods, discounts and various other offers.

As part of the event, Wilson Martino Dental, TLC Dental and the Smile Defenders will provide free dental appointments (cleaning, exam, X-rays, fluoride and any same-day dental work dentists can complete) in Bridgeport, Buckhannon, Elkins, Fairmont and Morgantown.

They have also partnered with more than 100 other local businesses to present thank-you offers. To reserve free dental appointments, call 87-SMILE-WIDE.

The offers are valid for active military and immediate family members, along with veterans. To claim a free offer, show some type of military I.D. when you visit each business during their hours.
