Man hospitalized after High Street stabbing incident

MORGANTOWN — A Maine man is charged with malicious assault in a downtown stabbing Thursday that sent one to the hospital.

At 12:56 a.m., officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to the area of 327 High St. to assist EMS with a laceration call.

Upon arrival, officers identified one male victim with apparent lacerations to his chest and arm. The victim received first aid from Morgantown Parking Authority personnel as well as first responding officers, prior to EMS arrival. The victim was transported to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.

During the course of the initial investigation a suspect was identified as Elijah Jon Older, 21, from Arundel, Maine. The suspect was found and detained by officers of the Morgantown Police Department and West Virginia University Police Department, and charged with malicious assault.
