Charles Carder

Charles William Carder Sr., 74, of Morgantown went to be with the lord on Sept. 18, 2021 after a run of illness.

Charles “Charlie” was born Dec. 8, 1946, to the late “Oogie” Glenn Carder and the late Mary Alice Ross Carder.

Charles worked for West Virginia University for 35 years and loved the retired life since leaving. He enjoyed playing poker, playing the slot machines, watching Westerns, having Hardee’s for breakfast, watching the Mountaineers and Steelers play football and watching his grandchildren grow. Most of all, Charles was a friend to anyone who knew him and loved by many.

Charles is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Carder; son, Charley Carder; granddaughter, Stephanie and her husband Eric Tenney; one grandson, Joshua Carder; brother, Richard (Alice) Carder; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacy Boggs; brother, Frank Carder; nephew, Richard Carder Jr.; and his loving furry companion, Samee.

Due to the exposure of COVID, the family will not be having visitations. Smiths Funeral & Cremation Care of Westover/Morgantown will provide cremation, and a celebration of life will take place later on. He family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with final expenses, hospital bills and help for the family. Please visit Stephanie Tenney on Facebook for the link.
