MUB asking customers to check credit/debit payments made on Aug. 27

MORGANTOWN — Morgantown Utility Board customers who made credit or debit card payments on Aug. 27 are encouraged to check their accounts to ensure the correct amount was charged.

MUB released a statement on Monday explaining that a software error on the part of the utility’s credit card processing vendor resulted in some accounts being charged more than the customers authorized, resulting in overdraft fees for some.

If you experienced an issue with payments made by credit or debit card on Aug. 27, contact MUB at 304-292-8443.

“We will make all corrections necessary, including the reimbursement of any resulting overdraft fees,” MUB’s statement explains. “We understand the unacceptable nature of such errors and are in the process of retaining a new credit and debit card processing vendor to help protect against such errors in the future.”
