Site change announced for Morgantown redistricting public hearing

MORGANTOWN — The Speaker of the House of Delegates announced Friday that the venue for the Aug. 12 redistricting public hearing has changed, due to a request from the Mylan Park office.

The new site will be the Hazel & J.W. Ruby Community Center at 111 Mylan Park Lane.

Everything else remains the same. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Anyone who would like to speak during the hearing will need to be present to sign in by 6 p.m. The hearing will begin shortly after 6 p.m. with welcome remarks and a reminder of the procedures; it will conclude at 8 p.m.

The statewide hearings are being conducted by the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Redistricting to gather public input before a special session on redistricting to be held later this year. The West Virginia Constitution requires Congressional and legislative boundary lines to be drawn every 10 years using U.S. Census data to indicate changes in population.

The previously announced site for the hearing was Monongalia County Extension Services & 4H Center at Mylan Park, 270 Mylan Park Lane.
