Urgent Care at Waterfront

Newsroom@DominionPost.com

Waterfront Urgent Care is now open, in the same spot on Don Knotts Boulevard where MedExpress used to reside before closing its doors June 3.

Long before MedExpress became a subsidiary of Optum, which is a division of healthcare giant United Health Care, Dr. Kevin Blankenship and several partners co-founded the first MedExpress at that location.

Now Blankenship has formed Waterfront Urgent Care. He will be joined by Dr. Erik Buzzard,  a former emergency medicine physician and Erica Murray, PA-C, to make up the provider team, along with other experienced staff.

Waterfront Urgent Care will provide treatment for illness and injury every day of the week from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The facility will support urgent care visits with diagnostics like X-rays and basic laboratory testing, as well as minor surgical procedures. Some occupational medicine and workers compensation services will also be provided.
