Suncrest United Methodist Church has several activities planned for August.
The first, Tuesday Trails and Tin Cans, begins at 6 p.m. Aug. 3 at Tugboat Depot, the playground in Star City.
Participants will be cleaning up the rail-trail area and should take a canned food item to be delivered to Scott’s Run Settlement House Food Pantry.
A pizza party will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Clevenger Pavilion at Suncrest UMC. There will also be face-painting, and a special guest character.
On Thankful Thursday — Aug. 5 — the church encourages people to post on the Suncrest UMC Facebook page things that they are thankful for. Posts can include a photo, an inspiring quote, or a short video. Make sure to tag the post #SUMCThankfulThursday, #SUMCWelcomeBackCelebration, or #SuncrestUMC
The church will also collect toilet paper, tissues, paper towels and toiletries for the Scott’s Run Settlement House Food Pantry. If you would like to make a donation, take items to the Pantry Rack.
Free Movie night in the field at Suncrest UMC will be Aug. 6.
Stop by for a fun evening of movies and popcorn. Bring chairs or blankets.
Concessions will be available for purchase benefiting Youth United.
Aloha Suncrest Luau will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 7 at Clevenger Pavilion at Suncrest UMC. There will be music, games and snacks. This event is for the whole family.
Food Truck Sunday at Suncrest UMC starts at 10 a.m. Aug. 8 in the church parking lot.
Vendors include:
- T&L Hotdogs with original hot dogs, 1/4 all-beef hot dog, nachos with cheese and loaded nachos. Toppings include mustard, ketchup, onions, chili, cheese, coleslaw, sauerkraut, jalapeños and relish.
- Carolina BBQ with ribs, pulled pork, chicken, smoked sausage dogs with pulled pork, peppers, onions and coleslaw. All dinners come with baked beans and green beans.
- Curbside Concoctions with savory and sweet crêpes, strawberry and Nutella crêpes, chicken and veggie crêpes, cold brew and blueberry lavender lemonade.
- Gold and Blue Mini Donuts will also be there an other vendors will be added.
