James Menear

James “Jimmy” Everett Menear, 78, of Kingwood, died on June 21, 2021, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital with his wife and daughter, LaDonna by his side.

Jimmy was born April 15, 1943, in Preston, a son of the late Samuel Bruce and Ruby Virginia (Pratt) Menear.

He had worked for over 34 years as a belt operator for Kingwood Mining, loading the coal trains. He had a love of horses, fishing, hunting, playing guitar and other instruments. His greatest love was his family.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janice (Murphy) Menear; two daughters and spouse, LaDonna (Menear) and Wayne Queen, of Grafton, and Michelle Menear, of Kingwood; one son/grandson, Tyler Weaver and companion, Helen Reel, of Morgantown; two brothers and spouse, John “Richard” and Freda Menear, of Mich., Stanley Menear, of Kingwood; three sisters-in-law, Thelma DeWitt, Phyllis Menear and Karen Menear; four grandchildren, Lacey Chappell, Kaitlyn Kesner, Chaelyn Kesner and Tresten Weaver; nine great-grandchildren, Haley, Hunter and Mason Stackhouse, Liam, Leilani and Myloh Presnell, Finley and Henry Bradds and Leighla Weaver; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Cheryl Ann (Menear) Kesner; three brothers, Harry “Popeye” Menear, Robert “Bruce” Menear and Jackie Ellsworth Menear; and one sister, Virginia (Menear) Farley.

Arrangements for cremation and a private service at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Niche Wall are under the direction of Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel and Crematory.
