Try, celebrate yoga Monday at Mylan Park

Newsroom@DominionPost.com

Join Mylan Park in celebrating International Yoga Day Monday at The Track Complex for a day of free yoga instruction and classes on the hour starting at noon.

All of the day’s instruction, tips and yoga practice and poses will be overseen by The Aquatic Center & Track Complex’s resident yogi Donald “Donnie” Murray.

Murray is a veteran of Desert Storm serving  more than nine years  in the West Virginia Army and Army National Guard. He was brought to yoga through his battle with anxiety and PTSD.

“Yoga saved my life,” Murray said. “My counselor at the vet center suggested I try yoga. And once I was able to push through the anxiety during the first two to three sessions, it changed my life. Most importantly it changed my health. I was imprisoned in a life of anxiety and was wasting away having not been able to leave my home for three years prior. Practicing yoga has allowed me to see colors again.”

Murray teaches regularly at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Shelley Lorenze, owner of Kindred Spirits Yoga and Wellness, helped organize the event.
