Human remains found in Mon County

Deputies from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office are investigating after human remains were recovered Thursday along Dug Hill Road.

The remains have been sent to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston for identification.

According to police, the person was wearing black sweat pants and an LA Lakers sweatshirt. Gender and race could not be determined on-scene, due to the condition of the body, but officials said the person appeared to have had dreadlocks.

Asked for comment, Monongalia County Sheriff Perry Palmer said no other information would be released at this time, due to the ongoing investigation.
