Mon Sheriff investigates thefts, break-ins, arrests 3

MORGANTOWN — The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office has responded to more than 30 reports of stolen catalytic converters and over six storage-unit facility breaking and entering reports since Jan. 1.

As of May 7, the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office has executed multiple search warrants related to these investigations, and has recovered a portion of the items that have been reported as stolen.

The investigation has found that a group of suspects are linked to a majority of these crimes, and as of Friday 10 felony charges have been filed, which culminated in the arrests of Robert D. Moon II, 24; Jeremy D. Angle, 23; and Brian K. Mayle Jr., 24, all of Morgantown. They are being held in the North Central Regional Jail.

Detectives are still investigating these thefts and additional arrests are anticipated.

The investigation into these crimes has been a countywide law enforcement effort, with assistance from the WVU Police Department, Morgantown Police Department, Westover Police Department, Star City Police Department, Mon Metro Drug Task Force, and the West Virginia State Police.
