Academy accepting applications for Virtual Summer Youth Academy

The Norman Jordan African American Arts & Heritage Academy is accepting applications for its July 12-15 Virtual Summer Youth Academy.

The traditional annual African American Summer Arts Academy will be conducted virtually this year. The academy is focused on dance, vocal and instrumental music, theater, and creative writing, including hip hop expressions. The academy will also offer a STEM master class.

Identify your artistic discipline of choice, expand your knowledge, interact with students, instructors, guest artists, performers and, if interested, participate in the student/faculty talent show.

The academy offers students ages 13-18 four days of study, from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, with a lunch break from noon-1 p.m. Roughly 45 students will interact virtually throughout the four days.

There will be performances by guest artists, presentations, a student/ faculty talent show and cultural enrichment master classes. The registration fee for the four days is $75 per student.
