PREP ROUNDUP: Clay-Battelle boys’ basketball team advances to sectional title game

BLACKSVILLE , W.Va. — The Clay-Battelle boys’ basketball team jumped out to a huge lead and never let the game get close in a 63-25 win over Wood County Christian on Tuesday to open the Class A Region I, Section 2 sectional tournament.

“Tonight, we had great teamwork, passing the ball on offense finding the open man and knocking down shots,” C-B head coach Josh Kisner said. “Defensively, we held them to under their average per game and everybody got to play a little bit.”

Wood County was trailing 15-10 after one quarter, but did not score a point in the second as the Cee-Bees roared out to a 32-10 lead at halftime. Mojo Chisler led all scorers with 19 points, while Austin Piper (11) and Gavin Moore (10) also scored in double figures.

C-B (13-2) will face the winner of Tyler Consolidated and Doddridge County at 7 p.m. Friday.
