Albright firefighter dies on duty

KINGWOOD — Albright volunteer firefighter Charles W. Miller lost his life Sunday while responding to the station for a brush fire.

On his Facebook page, firefighter Matthew Feather posted, “It is with a very sad heart that I announce that Albright Volunteer Fire Department located in Preston County WV has lost one of our own in a Line Of Duty death today while responding to our station for a brush fire Charles W Miller was a Captain with 29 years of service. RIP brother and we will take it from here. Please keep the Miller family and the members of Albright Company 1 in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn the loss of our dedicated brother.”

“It’s so hard to find the word to explain,” Feather wrote.  “It was Chuck Miller who got me involved with the Fire Department. I grew up being good friends with his son Stoney. When we were old enough he motivated us to join. He was like another father to me and everyone he was around. He would put himself second to everyone else. Chuck had a biggest heart that one person could have. It’s hard to go on but I know what he would say – Don’t worry about me, I’m fine, you got this. Rest easy my friend. We have it from here. RIP Chuck Miller Till we meet again.”
