Walk For Wishes Drive-Thru Edition set for April 17 at Marilla Park

MORGANTOWN — Join Make-A-Wish West Virginia for its first-ever ride-along event, Walk For Wishes Drive-Thru Edition, benefiting local children facing critical illnesses. On April 17, this event is a community-wide celebration and effort to create life-changing wishes in Morgantown and throughout West Virginia.

Families, friends, corporations, clubs and schools are invited to register, come together and raise funds leading up to drive day.

To register, visit wish.org/greaterpawv/wfw-drivethru-pr and invite friends, family and colleagues to join the cause. Once signed up, participants are encouraged to start fundraising right away and up until the drive-thru event, where attendees will see the Make-A-Wish mission come to life while celebrating fundraising success.

Due to safety precautions from COVID-19, the annual walk has transformed into a drive-thru event.
Participants will be able to show support for wishes by driving on the 5K route through Marilla Park.

During this drive-thru, there will be checkpoints with chances to win prizes and giveaways.

To culminate the event and for those who can’t make it in person, there will be a Facebook Watch Party featuring videos from some special guests at 6 p.m. Guests include local wish kids and their families as well as the woman at the heart of the Make-A-Wish mission and Make-A-Wish America co-founder, Linda Pauling. Pauling’s son, Chris Greicius, inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish when his wish to be a police officer was granted April 29, 1980. To attend the virtual event, visit the Walk For Wishes Drive-Thru Edition Facebook event page.

According to COVID-19 guidelines, Make-A-Wish asks all attendees wear masks and practice social distancing. With the health and safety of all participants at the forefront of its policy, Make-A-Wish will be actively monitoring COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions leading up to the event and will communicate any changes as needed.

This year’s top fundraiser will win a two-night stay for two at The Lodge at Stonewall Resort, dinner and breakfast buffets for two at Stillwaters Restaurant each night and each morning, two beverage cart coupons and one round of golf for two at The Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course. The winner will also receive a certificate to share with a friend for a two-night stay for two at The Lodge at Stonewall Resort and dinner for two at Stillwaters Restaurant each night.
