MORGANTOWN – Here is a sampling of bills and resolutions introduced Monday, March 8. Local lead sponsors and co-sponsors, if any, are noted.

  • SB 590, to remove the restriction that prevents medical marijuana from being in edible form. Sen. Mike Caputo, D-Marion, co-sponsor.
  • SB 591, to reduce simple possession of marijuana (less than 15 grams) from a misdemeanor crime to a civil violation. Caputo, Sen. Bob Beach, D-Monongalia, co-sponsors.
  • SB 588, to require county boards of education and county superintendents to comply with instructions of the State Board of Education.
  • SB 592, to provide for the ability for a member private, parochial, or church school or school operated by a religious order to enter into an agreement with a member public school to permit a student enrolled and attending the private school to participate in athletic event or other extracurricular activities as a participant of the member public school.
  • HB 2972, a moonshine bill, to permit the manufacture in a limited amount of alcoholic liquor for personal use only and not for sale.
