WVU baseball team halts activities; home-opening series with Kent State, game vs. Marshall postponed

MORGANTOWN — WVU athletic director Shane Lyons and the school’s medical officials paused all baseball activities, including workouts and games, for the next seven days.

In accordance with Big 12 game interruption guidelines, West Virginia’s next four baseball contests were postponed. The three-game home series Friday-Sunday at Monongalia County Ballpark against Kent State and the Tuesday home game against Marshall will not be played as scheduled.

The pause is in response to West Virginia being unable to meet the required COVID-19 thresholds, established by the Big 12.

Rescheduled dates, if any, will be announced when information becomes available. Fans with tickets to the impacted games will be permitted to use those tickets for the rescheduled games, if any occur, or they can contact the Mountaineer Ticket Office to exchange tickets for upcoming games later this season.

WVU is 4-3 to start the season, splitting four games with Georgia State in Atlanta, following by going 2-1 in the Coastal Carolina tournament last weekend in Conway, S.C.
