MORGANTOWN – Here is a sampling of bills and resolutions introduced Monday, March 1. Local lead sponsors and co-sponsors, if any, are noted.

  • SB 477, the West Virginia Children’s Vision Act, requiring school children to have vision examinations. Sen. Mike Caputo, D-Marion, co-sponsor.
  • SB 489, s to return to the Division of Highways the sales tax collected from contractors for materials used in highways construction and maintenance projects. Sen. Charles Clements, R-Wetzel, lead sponsor; Sen. Randy Smith, R-Tucker, co-sponsor.
  • SB 504, to authorize legislative review of any executive order issued by the U.S. President. Smith, co-sponsor.
  • SCR 10, applying to Congress to call an Article V convention of the states to propose a term limits amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Smith, lead sponsor; Sens. Dave Sypolt, R-Preston, Clements, co-sponsors.
  • HB 2805, to make Pierpont Community and Technical College a fully integrated division of Fairmont State University, effective July 1. Delegate Joe Statler, R-Monongalia, lead sponsor; Delegate Amy Summers, R-Taylor, co-sponsor.
  • HB 2810, o remove the severance tax on oil and gas drawn from low-producing wells.
