Mountaineers remain No. 4 in rankings

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia rifle team remains No. 4 in the College Rifle Coaches Association Poll on Wednesday.

This week’s rankings are based on NCAA Team Selection Rankings, which are comprised of a squad’s top-three scores earned at three different venues this season.

TCU ranks No. 1, followed by Kentucky at No. 2 and Ole Miss at No. 3. Alaska sits behind WVU at No. 5.

Nebraska checks in at No. 6, and Air Force comes in at No. 7. Memphis, Murray State and Army round out the top 10.

No. 4 WVU suffered its first Great America Rifle Conference loss of the season, as the Mountaineers fell, 4723-4717, to No. 2-ranked Kentucky on Feb. 13 at the Barker Hall Rifle Range, in Lexington, Ky.

The Mountaineers (7-1, 5-1 GARC) were swept by the Wildcats (13-1, 6-0 GARC) with UK winning smallbore, 2344-2333. West Virginia took the win in air rifle, 2379-2384.
