Berkeley County Man accused of sexually abusing relative

MORGANTOWN — A 44-year-old man from Berkeley County man is charged with sexually abusing a relative in the time frame of 2002-2004.

Jason M. Shriver, of Hedgesville, is charged with four counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian, and one count of incest by the West Virginia State Police.

The alleged crimes were reported by the victim, now 21, in January, according to a criminal complaint. She told police she was around 3 for one instance and around 4-5 for another.

While abusing the victim, Shriver would whisper “he loves her” and “that haunts her to this day,” the victim told police.

The events happened at apartments in Blacksville and Pentress, according to the complaints.

Shriver was arraigned Monday in Monongalia County Magistrate Court by Magistrate Ron Bane. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail on $100,000 bond.
