The Hitching Post ready to serve in Preston

KINGWOOD – Whether you are looking for a Caesar salad, a pizza, or a New York Strip Steak, you can find it at the Hitching Post.

You can also find fresh-made sandwiches, salads, gourmet pasta dinners, fish and seafood, and an 8-ounce elk medallion served with blackberry, red wine sauce or elk gravy and onions.

“We knew a lot of people were heading to Morgantown, Clarksburg and Deep Creek (Md.) for seafood and prime steaks that are not offered here,” Beth Peddicord, owner of the restaurant, said.

The restaurant is behind the Appalachian Hotel, and comes complete with a fireplace and properly spaced tables for safe dining.

She said the kid-friendly restaurant offers home cooked meals.  The house special is jumbo lump crab cakes.

“Our stakes are prime aged beef,” Peddicord said. “Our fish is never frozen.  It’s fresh and isn’t breaded until it is ordered.”

She said the restaurant offers both eat-in and pickup.

Food is not the only amenity the restaurant has to offer.

An event room is also available to rent for meetings, birthday parties, weddings or other social events.

“Because of its size, under 50 people at a time is preferred,” Peddicord said.

“We also offer a top-of-the-line Track Man golf simulator in our event room,” she said. “It’s the same one Tiger Woods has in his home.”

Even the younger generation can find something to do while they wait for their lunch or dinner to be served.

Peddicord said the game room offers both arcade and virtual reality games.

The restaurant is open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and dinner from 3–8 p.m., Monday–Saturday.

The bar is open from 3–10 p.m., Monday–Thursday and 3 p.m.-midnight, Friday and Saturday.

Both the restaurant and bar are closed Sunday.

The Hitching Post is at 17600 Veterans Memorial Highway.
