Medical examiner rules Morgantown woman’s death a homicide

MORGANTOWN — On Monday, Monongalia County Sheriff’s detectives were present for Alexa Randolph’s autopsy, performed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Charleston. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide, and the official report listing the manner of death is pending.

Randolph was reported missing the night of Jan. 28. Her vehicle was found by detectives in the parking lot of Walmart on Hornbeck Road at about 4 p.m. Jan. 29, according to the Morgantown Police Department. Randolph’s body was found in the cargo area.

Randolph was last seen at 2:45 p.m. Jan. 28 at her apartment on Overdale Street.

Throughout the week, evidence obtained during the investigation, including the victim’s car, have been taken to the West Virginia State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

Investigators from Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office and Morgantown Police Department are continuing to follow leads to further this investigation. Detectives have also received assistance from the Granville Police Department.
