Bonnie Taylor

Bonnie Kay (Groves) Taylor, 79, of Masontown, W.Va., was called home by the Lord and passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at Monongalia Health Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Bonnie was born in Masontown, W.Va., on Jan. 5, 1942, a daughter of the late Warren Clyde and Elnora Merle (Cale) Groves.

She was a faithful woman of God, leaning into Him throughout her life. She served many years as treasurer of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Bonnie was a dedicated professional, retiring from Famous Supply in Lorain, Ohio. Most importantly, she was devoted to her family — a loving wife, selfless mother and passionate grandmother.

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, Marvin Taylor; a son, Franklin Petak and Gina, of Reedsville; a daughter, Teresa (Petak) Ambrosio, of Springfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Donald Petak, Travis Petak, Marsha Montgomery and Bill, Tabatha McCormick and Adam, Matthew Ambrosio, Amanda Ambrosio and Anna Schill and Thomas; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Elaine Smith and Gerald, of Masontown, W.Va.; two brothers, Donald R. Groves and Beckie, of Kingwood, and Marvin L. Groves and Judy, of Kingwood; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank S. “Corky” Petak in 1994.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, W.Va., from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5 and from noon Saturday, Feb. 6 until the 1 p.m. service time with Pastor Jim Carder officiating. A private graveside service will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Masontown, W.Va.

Due to COVID-19, safety precautions will be taken, the social distancing six-foot rule will be honored and all guests, whose health allows, are to wear a mask. For the safety of everyone, we politely ask that visitors do not linger at the funeral home after seeing the Taylor family.
