Missing woman’s death being investigated as homicide

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The death of Alexa Randolph is being investigated as a homicide.

That’s according to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office which announced it was taking over the investigation to avoid any jurisdiction issues – such as leads, suspects or evidence found outside Morgantown city limits – on Monday.

Randolph was reported missing about 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 28. On Jan. 29, the Morgantown Police Department asked the public’s help in finding her.

The 32-year-old was last seen about 2:45 p.m. on Jan. 28 outside of her apartment on Overdale Street, according to the MPD.

Her vehicle, a white Ford Escape, was found in the parking lot of Walmart on Hornbeck Road about 4 p.m. on Jan 29, the MPD announced Sunday. Her body was discovered inside the cargo area. It has been sent to the Medical Examiner’s office in Charleston to determine cause of death.

Sheriff Perry Palmer told The Dominion Post additional information was unavailable due to the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information on Randolph’s death is asked to call 304-291-7218.
